Ernest E. Howerton, M.D.

Bio

Ernest E. Howerton, M.D. grew up in San Antonio, one in three children. He received his B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Science in Physiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he also established his medical school training.  Dr. Howerton completed a fellowship in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and followed the fellowship with a three year residency in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Howerton opened his Austin office in 1979.  He specializes in cataract surgery, intraocular lens implantation, glaucoma treatment, refractive surgery, and laser surgery.

Dr. Howerton is a member of the Travis County Medical Society, the Texas Ophthalmology Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
