Matthew Joseph Geck, M.D.

Bio

Dr. Geck was born and raised in Wisconsin. He went to undergraduate and medical school at the University of Wisconsin and pursued his post-graduate residency education at the University of California-Los Angeles Medical Center.

Dr. Geck is uniquely trained in all aspects of spine surgery. He performed two spine fellowships in his post-residency training. The first was in the reconstruction of the cervical spine, myelopathy surgery and adult reconstruction at the University of Miami Center for Spinal Disorders. The second was in pediatric and adolescent scoliosis, complex spinal deformities and innovative spinal instrumentation at Miami Children's Hospital. Dr. Geck maintains special interests in complex reconstruction of the cervical spine and pediatric scoliosis and kyphosis.

Dr. Geck is academically active and is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is academically active in the International Meeting for Advanced Spinal Techniques and the Cervical Spine Research Society with multiple presentations to his credit. He has been published in various scientific journals and textbooks, including Spine, Journal of Spinal Disorders, Orthopedic Clinics in North America and The International Society for Study of the Lumbar Spine textbook on spine topics such as spondylolithesis, pediatric scoliosis, cervical spine degeneration, treatment of spinal infections and cervical myelopathy surgery.

Current research interests include cervical myelopathy, rheumatoid arthritis of the cervical spine, scoliosis and Scheurmann's disease (adolescent kyphosis).
