Dr. Fielder has served as Chief of Surgery for University Medical Center Brackenridge since 2003. He has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Austin Medical Education Program and Surgical Peer Review for Seton Northwest and St. David's Hospitals.
He received his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in 1991. He remained in Houston to complete his general surgery internship and residency at St. Joseph's Hospital. In 1996, he returned to Austin where he graduated from the University of Texas for his undergraduate training in order to begin his general surgery practice.
Dr. Fielder is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, completed his required re-certification in 2005 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. He currently chairs the monthly GI Conference at UMC Brackenridge, where a wide variety of gastrointestinal surgical diseases are reviewed with current updates in management.
