Dr. Mark Chassay is co-manager of Texas Sports & Family Medicine, PLLC along with Mark Hutchens, M.D. and Robyn McCarty, M.D. He has practiced sports and family medicine since 1995. Previously, he worked in college health at University Health Service on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin for 7 years. He served as Sports Medicine module leader for one year. In August 1996, Dr. Chassay was named Team Physician and Coordinator of Sports Medicine for Women's Athletics at the University of Texas at Austin, a position he continues to hold. He is a Fellow of both the American Acedemy of Family Phyicians and the American College of Sports Medicine. In September 2003, Dr. Chassay completed the United States Olympic Committee Level I Volunteer Program at the Chula Visit (California) Training Center.Dr. Chassay attended the University of Texas - Houston Medical School and earned his Medical Degree in 1992. He subsequently completed a family practice residency at Memorial Hermann Hospital Southwest in Houston in 1995. After his residency, he moved to southern California and completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Kaiser Permanente (Fontana, CA) and the S.P.O.R.T. Clinic of Riverside in 1996.
While in southern California, Dr. Chassay provided sports medicine coverage as team physician at Riverside Community College, California State University - San Bernardino and Arlington High School in the Riverside Unified School District. Additionally, he assisted in the first Major League Soccer combine in 1996.
