Bio
Samuel B. Adkins III, MD has been providing health care to athletes and active patients for over 20 years. As a former athlete he understands the importance that individuals place on their physical activities, training and sports participation. As a practicing physician he understands the health benefits that patients receive as a result of their physical activities. He is dedicated to helping each of his patients of all ages reach their goals in both performance and health. He is a strong advocate for physical activity and sports for all ages.
Dr. Adkins graduated from The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency training at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital, both in Pennsylvania. He is one of the founding faculty for the East Carolina University Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has specialization in both Sports Medicine and Geriatrics. In addition to his practice, Dr. Adkins is an active educator of both medical students and resident physicians.
Dr. Adkins has remained active in his post athletic career, and when not at work can often be found on one of his bikes, in his kayak, or spending time with family and friends. His family has made Austin their home since 2003.
