Bio

Dr. Spinks received his Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and his medical degree from Columbia University. After finishing his neurosurgery residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, he completed his fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Childrenís Hospital of Pittsburgh and then became an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2009 he returned to his home state as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery for Texas A&M University and Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery for Scott and White Memorial Hospital. In 2010 he joined the faculty at Dell Childrenís Medical Center of Central Texas and the Seton Family of Hospitals. He brings with him an expertise in spine surgery, including both minimally invasive and complex spine techniques. He also focuses on minimally invasive intracranial and peripheral nerve surgery. He currently serves as Co-Director of the Dell/Seton Concussion Program and on the Texas Medical Association's Ad Hoc Committee on Student Athlete Concussions. He is a member of the Pediatric Craniocervical Society, the AANS/CNS Section of Pediatric Neurosurgery, the AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, and several other state and national organizations.

Current areas of research include minimally invasive neurosurgery techniques in the areas of spine, intracranial endoscopy, and transnasal endoscopy, as well as research in the areas of sports injury and concussion.
