Dr. Zapata is one of our fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologists. After receiving her undergraduate degree in biology with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, she earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Her surgical internship and otolaryngology residency were completed at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. She received her subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology at San Diego Children’s Hospital, where she gained additional skills to diagnose and treat ear, nose, and throat problems in children, including chronic ear disease, sleep apnea, chronic tonsillitis, hearing loss, chronic sinus disease, airway issues, and head and neck masses.
Dr. Zapata is board-certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She was actively involved in the residency-training program as an assistant professor at Emory University in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery for more than three years before joining our practice. Her hospital appointments include Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, Strictly Pediatrics Surgery Center, and Bailey Square Surgery Center.
