Dr. Woodward, a native Texan, graduated from high school in Brownwood, Texas. He earned his bachelor's degree in microbiology from The University of Texas in Austin. He graduated from medical school in 2004 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He then completed a transitional year internship at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. He subsequently returned to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he finished his residency in ophthalmology. His fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus was completed at Children's Mercy Hospital and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri.
From 2009-2011, Dr. Woodward practiced at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi, Tanzania. He served as Head of Training for the ophthalmology residency program at Tumaini University. He was also involved in fellowship training for pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.
Dr. Woodward is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Austin Ophthalmological Society, Texas Medical Association, and Travis County Medical Society. Dr. Woodard is now seeing patients at both our Austin and Kyle locations.
