Dr. Uecker has been practicing in Austin with Seton Surgical Group since 2003. He has particular interest in minimally invasive surgery and was the first surgeon in the Austin area to perform Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) – performing surgery such as cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) through one small incision less than an inch in length.

Additionally, Dr. Uecker has particular interest in liver surgery and is one of a few surgeons in the Austin area that is using exciting new microwave technology to ablate or remove liver cancer. Dr. Uecker has been the director of the Breast Cancer Clinic and is currently the director of the Surgical Oncology Clinic at the University Medical Center Brackenridge. He moderates a multi-disciplinary oncologic conference where he plays a vital role in treating a variety of cancers including breast, colon, rectum, liver, melanoma, thyroid and others.

Dr. Uecker completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas and subsequently went to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he graduated in 1993. He then did his General Surgery Residency at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas. Dr. Uecker then served in the U.S. Navy where he was the Ship Surgeon aboard the USS Enterprise. He then was an attending surgeon at Portsmouth Navy Hospital and completed a tour in Iraq with the First Marine Division at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
