Dr. Casmedes received his medical degree, doctor of dental surgery degree, and certificate of oral and maxillofacial surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His training also includes a fellowship in anesthesiology at UTSA. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and currently serves as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Prior to establishing Dell Children's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Casmedes was a partner in private practice for 16 years at Austin Surgical Arts. There he provided a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular interest in patients with complex medical issues and special-needs children. During his residency he participated in numerous medical missions to Cordoba, Mexico, where he performed cleft palate repair as well as surgical correction of dentofacial deformities in children.
A native of Sherman, Texas, Dr. Casmedes also holds a BBA and an MBA degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
