Dr. Bruce received her medical degree as well as her general surgery internship and residency training at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. While in medical school, she also earned a Masters in Public Health degree in Maternal and Child Health from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. After practicing as a general surgeon for several years in Louisiana, Dr. Bruce completed a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Bruce is a board-certified general surgeon and is experienced in addressing the full spectrum of surgical conditions, including breast and colon cancer, gallbladder disease, endocrine conditions and trauma surgery. In addition, her fellowship enhanced her skills in gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomies and revisional bariatric surgery.
She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the Association of Women Surgeons and the Travis County Medical Society.
Dr. Bruce spends her free time with her family and also enjoys traveling or immersing herself in a good book.
