Interim President, Dell Children’s Health
Before taking on the role of interim president for Dell Children’s Health, Dr. Mark Shen directed the pediatric hospitalist group, the Pediatric Consultation and Referral Service at Dell Children’s Medical Center since 2007. More recently, he helped to develop Children’s Comprehensive Care, a pilot clinic for the most medically complex children in Central Texas. He has long-standing interests in medical education and clinical quality.
Dr. Shen has been active both regionally and nationally in Pediatric Hospital Medicine in a variety of committee and editorial roles. He received an Outstanding Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Project award at the UT Clinical Safety & Effectiveness conference in 2011 for a national collaborative to improve discharge communication to primary care providers. Also, in 2012, he received the Ruth M. Bain Young Physician of the Year Award from the Travis County Medical Society.
Dr. Shen received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed his postgraduate training in pediatrics at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
