Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Seton Medical Center Austin
Garry M. Olney, was named vice president and chief operating officer for Seton Medical Center Austin, the largest hospital within Central Texas’ largest health care system, in March 2014. He had been chief operating officer for Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) since 2010.
Olney also is an adjunct professor at Concordia University and serves on the board of My Healing Place and the advisory board of The Settlement Home for Children. Prior to joining ARC, he held various executive positions with Tenet Healthcare from 1992 to 2010, the last six as vice president for patient care services at the company’s corporate headquarters in Dallas.
During his tenure at Tenet, he was chief executive officer at Whittier Medical Center and San Dimas Community Hospital, and chief operating officer at Fountain Valley Regional, Garden Grove and St. Luke’s medical centers, all in Southern California.
Olney earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing at the Medical College of Ohio/Toledo University; MBA at the University of St. Thomas in Houston; and his doctorate of nursing practice at Texas Tech University.
