News Experience the Courageous Heart and Soul of Acclaimed Poet Mark Nepo at October Lecture, Workshop

image AUSTIN, Texas - (Sept. 17, 2013) - Mark Nepo, acclaimed poet, philosopher and New York Times bestselling author of " The Book of Awakening," will address "Heartwork: Being a Spirit in the World" and "Finding Inner Courage" during the two-day, 12th Annual McPhee Lecture and Workshop Oct. 24 and 25 at St. Edward's University.

Nepo, a cancer survivor who will appear on two Oprah Winfrey "Super Soul Sunday" interview shows this fall, is devoted to staying close to what is sacred and authentic in our lives and speaks with compassionate authority about courage, vulnerability, and how to work with what life has given us to become sources of encouragement for ourselves and others.

"Heartwork: Being a Spirit in the World" will be the topic of his lecture from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in St. Edward's Jones Auditorium. Tickets are $50; $35 for students and seniors. He will explore the dynamic paradox of being a spirit in the world the heartwork required to inhabit our lives fully and to lead by example in our ongoing relationships to self, other, work, community and source.

"Finding Inner Courage" will be addressed in his workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in St. Edward's Mabee Ballroom. Registration is $275; $240 for participants working for non-profits. The sessions will explore how to find your way to your core and your courage and then learn how to sustain the practice of living courageously from this place of wisdom.

The McPhee Lecture and Workshop is sponsored by Seton Cove's Institute for Soul-Centered Leadership. Seton Cove is a non-profit, interfaith spirituality center and a member of the Seton Healthcare Family.

The McPhee Lecture and Workshop was established in honor of Sister Mary Rose McPhee, founder of Seton Cove. This annual series is an opportunity for leaders in business, health care, education and the community to reflect on spirituality and work.
