AUSTIN, Texas - (Oct. 19, 2011) - Seton Medical Center
Austin announced today that it is ranked No. 1 in Texas for
overall cardiac services and No. 1 in Texas in cardiology
services in 2012 by the leading health care ratings company,
HealthGrades®.
The hospital is also 5-star rated for treatment of heart
attacks and cardiology services in 2012. Top-performing
hospitals have dramatically lower mortality rates than other
hospitals, according to the report issued by HealthGrades.
According to the HealthGrades report, patients treated at
5-star rated hospitals experience a 73% lower risk of mortality
and a 63% lower risk of complications.

The study included nearly 5,000 hospitals
nationwide on 27 different diagnoses and procedures, and
examined outcomes based on mortality and complication rates
from government data from 2008 - 2010.
