Certification Emphasizes Full
Continuum of Care Available for Cardiac Patients
ROUND ROCK, Texas - (Oct. 12, 2011) - The Cardiac
Rehabilitation program at
Seton Medical Center Williamson was recently recognized as
a leader in rehabilitation care by the American Association of
Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
The AACVPR certification recognizes Seton
Williamson for its commitment to improve patients' quality of
life by enhancing standards of care post-treatment for cardiac
patients.
The hospital's rehabilitation program is
designed to help people that have suffered a heart attack
or other cardiovascular problem to recover faster, reduce
their risk for other cardiac events, and improve their
quality of life.
Certified programs are considered national
leaders in the field of rehabilitation care because they offer
the most advanced practices available. The Seton Williamson
program offer a comprehensive array of care including,
education, counseling and support for patients and their
families.
"Rehab is a critical piece of the continuum of
care process," said Dr. Michael Lenis, Seton Heart Institute
interventional cardiologist. "Heart-related issues may have a
lifelong impact on a patient's quality of life. Our goal is to
provide the best diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation care
to help patients' recover and return to a life where they can
participate in all or some of the activities they did before
the onset of the heart condition."
The Cardiac Rehabilitation program supports
the full continuum of heart care services available at Seton
Williamson and is led by Seton Heart Institute cardiologists
Mary J. Borses, MD, Kristopher M. Heinzman, MD, Gerardo Kalife,
MD, Michael F. Lenis, MD, and Dan Vaisman, MD. Seton Heart
services cover the complete spectrum of invasive and
non-invasive cardiology services from diagnosis to complex and
interventional procedures, including cardiac
electrophysiology.
The AACVPR is a multidisciplinary
organization dedicated to the mission of reducing morbidity,
mortality and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary
disease through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research
