Seton Smithville Regional Hospital's operations were uninterrupted by the Bastrop fire except for a temporary cut in landline telephone access. The hospital's main number (512-237-5777) had to be transferred first to a single cell phone and then to several temporary phones for a couple of days last week, but returned to normal operational use by Sept. 7.

Seton Smithville's Bastrop Medical Center reopened Sept. 7 to serve local patients. It was closed Sept. 6 due to staff being unable to get to work.

So far, there have been no other significant impacts to Seton operations thoughout Central Texas. There has been no unusual increase in patients coming to any hospital emergency room. However, there have been some staffing issues because several Seton associates have been evacuated from their homes and cannot come into work.
