Washington, D.C - (August 25, 2011). - Today, the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC), in collaboration with Seton Healthcare Family and the Texas e-Health Alliance, announced its first Health Innovation Exchange. BPC, Seton and Texas e-Health Alliance invite individuals and organizations interested in sharing their innovative strategies for improving the delivery of health care to apply to participate in the exchange, which will take place on Friday, October 7, 2011, as part of the BPC- and Seton-sponsored "Healthy Ideas Showcase: Changing the Way Health Care is Delivered" conference in Austin, Texas.
Texas-based innovations in health care delivery, enabled either by workforce development strategies or health IT, will be evaluated according to the following criteria: how the innovation addresses an explicit, highly prevalent health care issue in either Texas or the U.S.; how the innovation improves the quality and/or safety of health care; how the innovation reduces health care costs; and how the innovation supports workforce models that promote coordination or drive efficiencies in care.
Applications received by Friday, September 9, 2011, will be considered by a panel of evaluators representing key leaders in health care and health information technology within the state of Texas and convened by BPC. BPC plans to host similar exchanges in other states around the country this fall.
