AUSTIN, TX - (June 28,2010) - During March Mission Madness at Seton Family of Hospitals, the Clinical Education Center (CEC) at Brackenridge Administration voted to support deployed U.S. military troops in some way as their department mission project. Working through the agencies at Fort Hood, the CEC was assigned to soldiers in the 64th and 401st Military Police Companies deployed in Afghanistan.

"After sending off our original care packages to these companies, several folks throughout the CEC decided they would like to try to continue on this mission project through the year," said Denise Jacoby of the CEC.

In May, the CEC sent another set of packages to the soldiers in honor of Memorial Day, and recently received more donations to send another set of packages with a hopeful delivery date of July 4th. The CEC has received numerous food item donations, as well as funds to cover shipping postage.

"I love getting your packages, as it brings a smile to everyone here," said Jacoby's military contact in Afghanistan, "We here appreciate all that you are and have done for us and countless others."

Because of their continuous support (video) of the deployed troops, the CEC was approached by military command personnel at Fort Hood requesting a visit to the CEC to thank the leadership and staff for their support and donations.

The visit included a short tour of the CEC and representatives of the Fort Hood Team speaking to the CEC leadership and staff who are supporting the adopted military companies in Afghanistan.

"This has been a very rewarding mission project for many of us," Jacoby said. "Please continue to remember these troops and pray for their continued safety."
