News Seton Southwest Commemorates 10 Years

Community invited to a free, family-friendly celebration Mother's Day weekend

AUSTIN, TX - (May 4, 2010) - To thank the community for a decade of support, Seton Southwest Hospital, a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals, is hosting a 10th anniversary community celebration on Saturday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This fun, family-focused event - hosted on the eve of Mother's Day - will include events for all ages.

A health fair including experts from primary care, pediatrics, obstetrics and sleep disorders, as well as booths offering blood pressure and pulmonary screenings, will run the length of the event.

The hospital will also be open for self-guided tours including the labor and delivery unit, rehabilitation pools, mammography and sleep labs.

Check-in for the Toddler Run begins at 10:45 a.m. Racers will be grouped by age: six-eight months, nine-12 months, 12-18 months and 19-24 months. All participating toddlers will receive a commemorative t-shirt, with awards going to the top three finishers in all age groups. Register online or the morning of the event at the hospital.

For kids, Stepping Stone School will provide a craft area where participants can choose from a variety of gifts to make for their moms. Children are encouraged to bring their stuffed friends to the Teddy Bear Clinic where trained staff will triage and treat for boo-boos. For moms, the Healthy Habits and Great Habits gift shops will offer 30-percent off most store items.

HEB will provide complimentary snacks and drinks. Seton Southwest has arranged for the Hey Cupcake! trailer to be on-site offering free cupcakes to sweeten the anniversary celebration.

The Bluebonnet Montessori Children's Choir, a group of five-year olds who sing classic Beatles songs, will take the stage at 1 p.m. Appearances by the Austin Toros players, cheerleaders and mascot, Da Bull, also are expected.
