News Seton Medical Center Hays Recognized as 2009 Large Business of the Year

KYLE, TX - (March 3, 2010) - Seton Medical Center Hays (SMCH), a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals, was recently recognized as the 2009 Large Business of the Year by the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber honored SMCH during an awards celebration, "Gala on the Green: A Masquerade Ball," at the Plum Creek Golf Course on Saturday, Feb. 27. The event celebrated the individuals and organizations that have greatly contributed to the chamber over the past year.

Award nominees in the large business category included Target, HEBplus and Kohl's.

"SMCH has demonstrated exceptional service and community leadership. The medical center has promoted economic growth and stability in the Kyle area," said Ray Hernandez, executive director, Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce. "They have created many firsts for Kyle, in part by their involvement and commitment to the chamber and all of her members."

On behalf of SMCH, Herb Dyer, chief operating officer, and Nikki Rivers, chief nursing officer, (both center) attended the awards gala and accepted the award.

"It's an honor serving the residents of this community and we are humbled to be recognized for our contributions over the past year," said Dyer. "The celebration was full of energy and support from the chamber and local supporters."

Since opening Oct.1, 2009, SMCH has created more than 400 jobs in the Kyle area. The 325,000-square-foot, 112-bed hospital serves as the central resource for complex medical care in Hays County, offering a full-service emergency department, complete cardiac care, labor & delivery, OB/Gyn and a Level II neonatal nursery.
