Kyle, TX - (October 2, 2009) - Seton Medical Center Hays (SMCH), a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals, has only been open two days and has already delivered three babies.

Mayte Medrano gave birth to her son, Josiah, today at 1:43 a.m. He weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is the first born for Medrano, a 20-year old mom.
"What a blessing for him to be one of the first babies at Seton Medical Center Hays. When I first saw him I said My Baby My Heart," expresses Medrano. "We are really happy with our experience and so glad the hospital is now here and so close to us."
On behalf of SMCH, Herb Dyer, SMCH vice president and Chief Operating Officer, gave the family a gift basket in recognition of the special occasion. Dyer stated that "Seton Medical Center Hays is a welcome facility in this community. Residents no longer have to go outside the county for medical care."
Josiah was delivered by Jennifer Goss, MD, obstetrician with UT Physicians Practice. She expressed that she had "best job in the whole world and to be able to do it in this community where a hospital was so needed is just truly rewarding."
