News Texas Nurses Association Announces District "Fab Five" Nurses

AUSTIN, Texas - (May 4, 2009) - All five nurses receiving the prestigious 2009 "Fabulous Five" award from the Texas Nursing Association District 5 work at the Seton Family of Hospitals. The nurses, judged by their peers, are recognized for making a difference based on their leadership qualities, service to the community, impact as a role models and significant contributions to the nursing profession.

"This is a tremendous honor for Seton nurses," said Joyce Batcheller, Seton chief nursing officer. "Seton nurses consistently rise to the challenges of one of the most demanding, but rewarding jobs in the world. Physicians who practice at Seton and patients who come to us for care can take comfort in knowing that they are in truly professional hands."

More than 10,500 registered nurses work in the Texas Nurses Association's District 5, which covers 10 Central Texas counties. Of those, 3,000 work at Seton, the region's largest healthcare system .

The Fabulous Five will be recognized at TNA's annual gala on May 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Doubletree Austin Hotel, 6505 IH-35 North.

TNA, founded in 1907, is the oldest professional nursing association in Texas and its members represent all segments of nursing practice, come from all practice settings, and share a common purpose, advancing excellence in nursing.
