Kyle, Texas - (March 20, 2009) - Officials with Seton Medical Center Hays, a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals, announced today that they have selected Emergency Service Partners (ESP) to provide services to patients who utilize the emergency department once the new facility opens in October 2009. They've also named the Chief of Emergency Medicine.
Emergency Service Partners is a physician-owned emergency medicine group dedicated to providing hospital clients and their patients with the highest quality service available.

ESP has been providing quality emergency medicine care throughout the Seton Family of Hospitals' Emergency Departments for more than 20 years.

Rhett Reed, MD, FACEP
Longtime ESP physician Rhett Reed, MD, FACEP, will join SMCH as Chief of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Reed completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M before attending the University of Texas Medical Branch for his medical degree.
Prior to moving to Austin, his internship, residency and chief residency were completed at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. Aside from Dr. Reed serving in various administrative and leadership roles in Central Texas, he has worked at University Medical Center Brackenridge, Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas and Seton Southwest Hospital, for the last 17 years.
"I am excited to lead the Emergency Department in a new state-of-the-art facility in Hays County - serving an area in need of significant health care resources," Dr. Reed said. "It is an honor to work with a healthcare system that continues to grow and serve Central Texas."

Located just east of I-35 off the newly expanded Kyle Parkway, the new and innovative Seton Medical Center Hays will be the largest medical facility in the county with the capacity for 144 licensed beds in the first phase, an outpatient surgery center and a medical office building. When all construction phases are complete, the medical center is expected to offer more than 210 patient beds.
