Why:
To celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer, and to help us in our mission to raise money for cancer research.
- More than 823,000 American children and adults are living with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma (blood cancer).
- Someone is diagnosed every 5 minutes.
- Someone dies every 10 minutes.
- Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of 20.
- Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.
- The survival rate for myeloma is only 32.4 percent.
- Funds raised through our Light the Night Walk go to support our mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
- Money is raised through corporate sponsorships, corporate and family walk teams, and the sale of paper balloons at retail establishments.
