LIGHT THE NIGHT WALK

• Non-competitive evening walk participants carry illuminated red balloons, cancer survivors carry illuminated white balloons
• Fun, family event with food and entertainment provided

When:
Saturday, October 18, 2008
Registration & Activities: 6:00 p.m.
Walk Start: 7:30 p.m.

Where:

The Dell Childrens Medical Center of Central Texas
Located at the new Mueller development, Austin, TX

Why:

To celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer, and to help us in our mission to raise money for cancer research.

• More than 823,000 American children and adults are living with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma (blood cancer).
• Someone is diagnosed every 5 minutes.
• Someone dies every 10 minutes.
• Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of 20.
• Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.
• The survival rate for myeloma is only 32.4 percent.
• Funds raised through our Light the Night Walk go to support our mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
• Money is raised through corporate sponsorships, corporate and family walk teams, and the sale of paper balloons at retail establishments.
