Jesús Garza

Jesus_Garza_smPresident and Chief Executive Officer, Seton Healthcare Family and Ministry Market Leader, Texas and Arizona

I came to Seton from the Lower Colorado River Authority and after more than 20 years in government.  Throughout my career, I have gained experience in solid waste services, information systems, parks and recreation and library services during two stints with the City of Austin, Texas. In 1994, I was named Acting City Manager by the Austin City Council and, a few months later, was appointed City Manager until I retired in May 2002.

What attracted me to the Seton Family of Hospitals was its goal of serving anyone with a need for quality health care. In my experience, striving to achieve such a goal organizes the best of human energy.

I want everyone who comes to the Seton Family – as an associate or as a patient – to feel that they are able to fully participate in what we have to offer. To me, that means patients are informed partners in their own care. They will find someone at Seton with whom they can discuss their treatment options and concerns. This places a special demand on our ministry to be composed of diverse individuals who reflect the community on a wide range of dimensions. It also means that every associate we employ will be supported and provided opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

Editor’s note: Jesús has been recognized for numerous accomplishments.  Among them, he has been named “Public Administrator of the Year” by the American Society for Public Administration/CenTex Chapter (May 2001) and “Public Official of the Year” by Governing Magazine (November 2000).

Garza received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas and went on to get his Masters of Public Affairs degree from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs.  He is married with three children and two grandchildren.
