AUSTIN, Texas- (Nov. 20, 2012) – The Austin Trail of Lights brought some pre-season excitement to the children at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, a member of the Seton Healthcare Family, on Tuesday. The Trail of Lights team treated the children and their families with a preview of some of the lights that will line the Trail including elves, penguins and bears.
Patients got into the holiday spirit with a party where they decorated light ornaments to place on the Seton ChristmasTree. Children and their families shared their favorite Trail of Lights memories and made new ones as they took photos with the Trail displays.
“Everyone has a story or memory from the Trail of Lights. The 2012 Trail of Lights allows a new generation, like the children here at Dell Children’s to create memories with this community celebration that touches everyone,” said Marcella Maxwell, Child Life Specialist of Dell Children’s Medical Center. “Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas is excited to be part of the Trail of Lights Village, made possible by Dell, and the GiveTogether Austin campaign”.
The Trail of Lights visit to Dell Children’s Medical Center kicks off the GiveTogether Austin campaign, a public donation campaign that benefits 23 Trail of Lights nonprofit partners, including Dell Children’s Medical Center. Throughout the holiday season, people can participate in the GiveTogether Austin campaign in three ways-text donations, direct donations and by buying a wristband that will provide discounts on merchandise and shuttle passes for easy access to the Trail-at www.austintrailoflights.org.
“The Trail of Lights gives Austinites the opportunity to celebrate together, share traditions and continue to advance and strengthen the community,” said Paul Carrozza, CEO of the RunTex Carrozza Foundation. “Through the GiveTogether Austin campaign, the community has an opportunity to share gifts of the season that strengthen Austin.”
The GiveTogether Austin campaign will culminate at the Trail of Lights Village, made possible by Dell. During the Trail of Lights, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Village and connect with a nonprofit organization that is strengthening Austin.
